It's a fruitful day indeed. There are definitely so many things that might happen any time, any where. I took down notes as I went along, so there you go.
Lesson #01: Vaccination
The very first one I saw was the vaccination which I was kind of familiar with already. I've dog and 3 cats at home. Talk about it. If you really want to get down to figures, our household had 3dogs and 4 cats in total. So, I seen quite a number of vaccinations being done, yet, I'm still not that familiar with the medicine names. Ughh. Long and un-decipherable ones.
So, this guy took 2 dogs and had them vaccinated. One of them is a cross-breed from Sweden and the other is a breed I'm not that familiar with. Anyway, Dr Sim. drew the blood from the hind legs, and gave them the flu vaccine that is supposed to be actually done directly via the nose where the fluids flow down. That is a terrible feeling for me when I've visited the head and neck specialist for my nose, and he did all sorts of test on me. I can understand. Ughh. One word: Terrible.
Lesson #02: X-Ray Room
For the first time in my life, I went into an X-ray room. It was kind of different from what I expect it to be. Well, I thought it'll be very grand like those that we have in the human hospitals. What they have there ain't anything comparable to that.So I helped Dr Tan to stretch the hind legs of this cat to get a better view of its bone structure. Then off the lights and on the red light, place the X-ray piece into the kodak machine then on the lights when it's fully in it.
What I've got to say is that it's one nerve-wrecking experience. No lights.
In the dark, I've to place the X-ray piece VERTICALLY into the machine. I might not be able to do that. Haha! I can't see at all! And the vet tech keep telling me: " Look. can you see?"
Hell yeah. What can I see? I can only see one color, that's BLACK. But eventually, we'll learn and familiarise, then placing the X-ray piece isn't a problem in fact.
Lesson #03: Cat's Pelvis
The X-ray results weren't that positive. At least to the owner of the cat. This cat had a fractured pelvis. Normally, a cat with strong and healthy bones have their pelvis structured parallel to each another. This cat had its pelvis structured in a V-shape form.
Just to let you know. He's one old, thin and frail looking cat. It must be likely that it's unable to support the pelvis and the pelvis collapsed. Well, for one old cat which screams even the slightly touch, the best option adviced was to put it to sleep.
Lesson#04: Surgery-Spaying
Spaying is a term, meaning to castrate the cat. Dr Chee castrated 2 cats and I got to witness them both. They are both female cats by the way. So, the vet tech shaved the fur in preparation for the operations and later Dr Chee slit an opening. That opening wasn't really that big. She practically sticked her index finger and searched for the uterine horn [in human terms, it's the fallopian tube]. She tied it and cut it away , then she repeated again for the other side, then tied both the remaining ones together.
What was removed were the uterine horns and the ovaries.
The first cat wasn't on heat, so the blood vessels wasn't the obvious. Instead, the second cat was on heat, thus, the blood vessels were actually rather obvious just from the naked eye. The uterine horns would be more muscular too.[On heat means , going to be ready to mate. It's the estrus cycle that they go through like human females do.]
Well, for the female cat, the ovaries are removed as well because it'll stop the hormones from "telling" it to mate. Something like this.
Hey! I've learnt alot right? I'm so looking forward to the next visit.

Dad call me after the attachment and I've so much to tell him. Of course, I couldn't finish them up on the bus which I was on at tha point of time. Haha! Can't expect me to say " DADDY! it's super cool! I got to see blood and the uterine horn eh! Dr Chee removed the uterine horn and show it RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE."
Ughh. They'll back away from me if I said that! :D But I said something similar though. ;x
He told me that Alvin called me too! Finally!
We're going to meet him on th 16th of March to settle all the stuffs and meet the Murdoch University Representative to ask him questions. I've got to know this girl who also wants to be a vet and is going to take the WAUFP with me in April. Alvin said her results ain't that great as mine, but I think if we're to become friends, wohohoho. Not just results, our topic of discussion might just be ANIMALS! (: * Getting so excited here*
Although knowing that means I've one more competitor, but i'll also nice knowing that there's someone who is going to acc. you too in this whole one year. And if both of us are sucessfull in the application and gets into the same Uni, I've one fine and familiar-looking face down there to share and talk to! ;D
This just gets me excited! Hope we can be friends! (:
62days to Perth!
